Troop update

Good evening!

Many thanks to the dozens of scouts and adults who joined Ty Zahnow in his Eagle Project yesterday on Pinnacle Peak trail.  More than a half dozen steps were built, boulders, stones and packing dirt were hauled up the mountain and used to reinforce the trail, and desert plants were given a thorough drenching.  Although there was a general T648 opinion that moving boulders from the top of the mountain down to the 1/2 mile marker rather than from the required bottom up would have been a much improved process by Scottsdale Parks System, the overall concensus was that it was a very successful morning, and much appreciated by our hosts from Scottsdale Parks & Rec.

A reminder for everyone to bring your registration money for 2011 to this Tuesday’s meeting.  $100 for each boy, $10 for those boys in OA, and $10 for each adult leader (assistant scoutmasters and committee members).  Boys can also use their scout accounts, if funds are available. All adult leaders must complete the online 30 minute Youth Protection session on the BSA Council website, and print their completion card.

Please also remember the outing at Granite Basin the end of this month.  For those boys who do not have a mountain bike, there will still be plenty of opportunities for geocaching, hiking and lots of advancement with Mr. Butler, Mr. Patton and other scouters.  You might also be able to borrow another scout’s bike after they finish the formal ride to do a little riding yourself along with a biking buddy.  The weather is scheduled to start clearing by this weekend – so, as always, it will be a great time to be camping with T648!

See you Tuesday night!

Mr. Cole
